Vodou Flag by Jean-Baptiste Jean Joseph

Vodou Flag by Jean-Baptiste Jean Joseph.

In the Vodou pantheon, Baron is one of the important loa (or gods). In his various aspects, such as Baron Samedi ("Baron Saturday"), Baron Cimetière, and Baron La Croix, he resembles an undertaker and is often depicted with a top hat, black tuxedo, and dark glasses. Frequently he has a white, skull-like face. The Baron stands at the crossroads of death, where souls must pass on their way to the underworld.
